Chapter four

CHAPTER FOUR
THE KEPT DIARY
Water began whirling around Harry in a high speed that almost made Harry thrown up. He couldn’t see anything out there, not even a fish. The only thing that he could see was the whirling water and the back of Krum’s broom. Harry tried not to touch the water. He wondered if Hermione could do that too. He kept of with Krum closely, as every inches of his skin hoped to leave this strange tunnel as quickly as possible. Krum went faster and faster, as though he knew what Harry was thinking about.
‘Hurry up!’ yelled Krum in a high voice. ‘Ve have to be quick! And vatch out the vater!’
‘Why?’ asked Ron behind Harry.
‘It’s too dangerous to go that fast, Krum.’ said Hermione.
‘Just try or ve will get vin big danger’ said Krum, kept accelerating. Harry speeded up to stay behind, wondering what will happen next.
‘Tell us why!’ yelled Ron with a dissatisfied expression, but Krum didn’t need to answer him. He got the answer soon after he asked that. The entrance of the tunnel suddenly closed. Water rushed straight into the tunnel.
‘Aaaaaaaaaaaaa!’ yelled Ron and Hermione. They accelerate to a high speed that almost crashed. Harry speeded up immediately. They flew more quickly and quickly to the end of it. There was a small copper door with some words on it, but no one has the chance to look clearly at it. Harry waved his wand to open the door, and all them were pushed into it by water.
‘Impedimenta!’ shouted Ron, pointing his wand at the door. The door was pushed back by Ron’s spell.
‘Lovaronock!’ added Hermione. Her spell locked the door right after the door closed. Harry gave her an approvable smile, and stood up from the little sink. His robe was all wet. He gave his wand a little wave and hot air emitted out and dried their clothes.
‘Thanks, Harry.’ said Hermione. ‘I think it’s time to go.’
‘Right.’ said Krum, and mounted on his broom.
‘Where are you going to?’ asked Ron.
‘Vhere.’ answered Krum, pointing at the roof. Harry and Ron raised their head to look at it. There was a small, wooden door with some pattern on it. Krum took out an old, silver, tiny key and handed it to Harry. Harry took it and flew up to the door. He pushed the key in the keyhole. The door opened itself slowly as though something is pushing it. Harry flew inside, and felt the hot heat of the room. The rest of them followed him in.
Just after they went inside, the door closed itself. Harry and Hermione looked at each other, both saw fearfulness in others eyes. They look around the room. A huge, bright red ball was in the middle of the room. Green, oil-like liquid surrounded the ball. There were no doors in the room, except the one they came in; nothing seemed that it could be got in, except the ball. Harry wondered how they could get in. They were standing on a flagstone on the corner.
‘It’s quite simple, isn’t it?’ said Ron happily, patting his broomstick. Krum smiled at him. It made Ron felt embarrassed.
‘I meant that- well, it still worth a try, doesn’t it?’ asked Ron, looking at all of them, hoping for some agreements, but got no reply from anyone. Harry walked pass Ron and pointed his wand at the cliff.
‘Diffindo!’
Rocks fell down from the cliff with a loud bang. Hermione and Krum looked at him admirably.
‘Perfect spell casing, Harry.’ said Hermione.
‘Strong enough to knock someone down.’ added Krum. Harry picked one of the stone and threw it to Krum, and threw another one into the green liquid. The stone exploded in a sudden and its force pushed Harry backwards to the door.
‘Are you all right, Harry?’ asked Hermione worriedly.
‘Fine.’ said Harry, patting the dust on his robe off. ‘What are those?’
‘Erupent’s exploding liquid. It is very, very rare. I wonder how Karkaroff got it.’ answered Hermione. ‘What are you doing, Krum?’
‘Testing.’ answered Krum simply, and threw the rock Harry gave to him to the red ball. The ball was brunt into ashes and fell into the exploding liquid, than it exploded.
‘That’s what would happen to us if we rode our broom.’ explained Harry to Ron. ‘What can we do to clean the exploding liquid, Hermione?’
‘I don’t really know, it isn’t said in some books. Oh! I wish that Higrid were here. He must have know-’
‘Can you let us think, Hermione?’ said Ron, and all of them started thinking of crazy ideas, and they knew perfectly well that none of them would work in his muttering. Spells and potions flew through Harry’s brain one after one. Hermione took out her copy of The Monster Book of Monsters and stroked in open, and started looking for information. Krum sat on a big rock and was in deeply thoughts. Ron was suggesting strange and crazy ideas, though he knew perfectly well that none of his idea would work.
Suddenly, something appeared in Harry’s mind. He took out an orange bag from his pocket, and took out things like exploding cards, wizard crackers. Finally, Harry took a mirror out of it.
‘Fred! George! Are you there?’ yelled Harry loudly at the mirror; his voice woke Krum up with a start.
‘Harry! Too loudly!’ yelled George back to him. ‘Fred is taking care of the customers. What’s going on?’
‘Nothing. Do you want some Erupent’s exploding liquid? I’ve got loads of them.’
‘I don’t believe you. It is too rare, over three hundred Galleons for a liter.’ said George. ‘Don’t lie to me.’
‘I’m not lying to you, you can see it from the mirror.’ said Harry, put the mirror near the pond of exploding liquid. ‘See it? How can you get it? You can’t get here by Appariting.’
‘Throw the mirror into it.’ said George.
‘Are you crazy?’ asked Hermione. ‘It will explode!’
‘It won’t.’ said George. Harry tried to believe him; he threw the mirror into the pond of exploding liquid, and step backwards. Hermione covered her ears and so did Ron. Krum didn’t move, he merely raised his head and looked at it.
The pond of exploding liquid were getting smaller and smaller as Harry heard Fred at George’s cheering got louder and louder. Hermione’s mouth was wide open. Krum stood up and gave Harry a big smile. Harry smiled back to him, and looked at the pond of exploding liquid until the finally disappeared.
‘Thanks, Harry. That is over two thousand Galleons!’ said Fred.
‘You’d helped us too.’ said Harry.
‘I’ve told you. It’s quite simple.’ said Ron.

Four of them walked near the red ball. Harry thought that the red ball was made by fire because of its heat. They couldn’t get closer then ten meters, it was the closest range they could stand.
‘Frenorious!’ yelled Hermione, and a layer of frost covered the ball, but it soon melted. Hermione tried one spell after one. Harry didn’t want to look at it. He knew well that they wouldn’t work, not even one.
‘We’re going to be melted!’ yelled Ron, looking at Hermione’s wand. ‘We don’t even know what it is!’ Hermione stopped her moves, and took out her books again. Harry stared at her, wondering what she could find out, but nothing came out her mouth.
‘What is it?’ asked Ron again.
‘Fironier’s stone. I doubt.’ but this wasn’t answered by Hermione. It’s Krum. ‘The stone which can only be formed in the deepest magma. Is can make almost anything that touched it burnt in a second by its heat.’
‘I found it!’ shouted Hermione in a surprise, point at a page in The Natural Source Material of Magic. ‘Eastern people let their dragon swallow it to enhance the heat of fire. Its heat can’t penetrate dragon’s skin. That’s it, Harry. Its heat can’t penetrate dragon’s skin!’
‘But how can we find four robes at hat made from dragon skin?’ asked Ron. ‘We are not that rich!’
‘I have one.’ said Krum, taking a red, creased robe out of his bag. ‘Karkaroff gave it to me. He said that I’ll need it some day.’
‘It won’t help.’ said Hermione. ‘We only got one.’
‘It may.’
‘It isn’t the time to argue. We’ve only got a chance. How can we give it up?’ asked Ron. Rest of them marveled at Ron’s words and nodded. Harry picked Krum’s robe up, and threw it up into the air.
The robe covered the red ball. The heat was soon decreased. Beads of perspirations stopped felling off their forehead. Than, Harry felt the air-cooled down in a sudden. His body started quivering. He pulled out his wand and gave it a wave, but nothing happened.
‘We have to get out!’ shouted Ron, his voice quivering and was hard to understand. Krum nodded and walked near the red ball. He put his hand on it, and soon disappeared in a smoke. Ron and Hermione followed him, left Harry alone in the room. Harry wondered how Krum knew that, but he knew that it might be the right way. Harry stepped forward to the ball. He grabbed to robe and disappeared in a smoke.

Harry was in a strange tunnel. His body was flying through the tunnel itself. Red illustrations flew through his eyes. Harry was giddied by the speed. He closed his eyes, tried to make himself believe that it is only floo powder. He grabbed the rode hardly, hoped it won’t flew away. With a loud bang, Harry fell into a small room. Ron, Krum and Hermione was standing in front of them.
‘Where we are?’ asked Harry, looking around the room. Overdue newspapers, old parchments are around. The round ceiling was high above them, little sparks were on it. Four windows were under the ceiling, fishes were swimming out of it. Four grand, granite pillars were under the windows. A large, white circle was in the middle of the room. In the middle of the circle, a stand with a book on it stood on top of it.
‘I don’t know.’ answered krum.
‘Maybe in KarKaroff’s dwelling, perhaps.’ said Hermione. ‘Let’s look around. See if we can find anything interesting.’ Ron walked to the pile of newspapers with her. Krum leafed through the parchments in high speed, and Harry walked around the room, searching if there were anything unusual. Ron seemed that he found something, he pushed a newspaper near Hermione, signified her to look at it. Hermione looked at it and was startled by it. Harry and Krum stepped forward and looked at it.
ANOTHER OLD DEATH EATER WAS KILLED BY VOLDEMORT
Igor Karkaroff, who used to be a death eater,’s body was found by a muggle at the west of England. A large dark mark was on the roof. Gladly, it wasn’t seen by anyone else. ‘I’m glad that he is dead’ said one worker in the ministry. ‘He-’
The rest of it was burnt by magic.
‘I’ve forgotten that Lupin told us that he is dead in Diaogn Alley.’ said Ron, glaring at krum. ‘You’ve lied to-’ but Krum cried out loudly and interrupted him. Hermione patted his shoulder, looking at Harry and asked for his help.
‘Krum, he didn’t die painfully. He did not feel any pain when he died.’ said Hermione, but Krum cried more loudly. Harry knew how he felt, so he took a little shiny thing out of his pocket.
‘Take a look at this.’ said Harry; he pushed a mirror to him. Krum stared at him. ‘This is the thing that my godfather left.’
‘Left?’ asked Krum with misunderstand on his face.
‘He is dead.’ said Harry, trying not to let sorrow appear on his face.
‘Sorry.’ said Krum.
‘There’s no need to say that.’ said Harry, looking at the mirror carefully. ‘He didn’t really left, did he?’ Krum smiled finally and stood up.
‘Looks like that he left me something too.’ said Ron. He walked to the stand and picked up the diary, but the smile on his face soon disappeared. He fell down without warning.
‘Ron!’ shouted Harry, as everyone ran to Ron’s side. Krum picked the diary up. Then, Ron opened his eyes.
‘Am I dead?’ asked Ron. ‘What happened?’‘Avada kedavra!’ shouted a voice behind him.
